Nature Inn, Mirissa, Sri Lanka
Sri Lankan buses make it easy to get from one destination to the next – no tourist price. Spent 1 day/night at Unawatuna – Jungle Beach pleasantly surprised me during an aimless hike. Buddhist temples rest on the most scenic spots on the beach. Very peaceful – want to memorize a few Buddhist stanzas to repeat in my head.
From Unawatuna to Mirissa
Made move to Mirissa following sunrise pictures, nap and swim. Observing group dynamics and very happy I’m in complete control of my own movements. Hoping to achieve more authentic travel soon. While I did have dinner and get a language lesson in Sinhalese from two Sri Lankan guys, the beaches in this region are far too touristy for my liking. Interesting how I feel more alone in overly tourist areas vs. when I stick out in a crowd of locals. Perfect sunset as I sat alone for over an hour completely content and hopeful for the future. Thought about our fascination with sunset – puts rotation of the earth into perspective. I find it odd that people get up and walk away when the sun sets like the show is over. Deep into my travels now. Feeling detached from anything resembling stability. Doing exactly what I want, exactly when and where I wish.
