Riding a horse in Nuwara Eliya

Stayed at Sampath Hotel, Nuwara Eliya, Sri Lanka

Two things on the to do list each day… Sunrise, sunset. I wake with hopes it’s still dark out, as I peel back the window shade, I see the first glimmers of light. I race outside. Which way is east? I chase the oncoming sunlight. Any scenic vistas in my path surely can’t be missed. As I walk down the trail, I take note of each potential trail to blaze here in Nuwara Eliya. I know I’m capable of covering more ground, faster, nothing to be missed. I don’t bother consulting a map, or a fancy guide book. I let my senses, my curiosities control my movements. Blank pages to be filled with adventurous tales. Will our digital footprint be observable by future generations? What tourist destinations will we create in this era?

Managed to score a nice room at the Sampath Hotel in Nuwara Eliya affording me the first hot shower in weeks. Highlight of Nuwara Eliya.. mounting a horse for a few minutes. I know I’m not missing out on anything back in the states but I do wonder what I’ll feel like upon my return. I think I’ve grown via experience. Age is relative to one’s experience. As the bus speeds along, I continue to hang my head out the window catching the cool breeze flowing through my hair. Going to finish up Sri Lanka by beach hopping my way back to Colombo.
