Following the pilgram’s trail in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar

3-7-15   Sri Lanka Temple, Vaisali, India

I took an all-night, packed 2nd class train ride to Pakna and had a wonderful stay at the Stupa Monastery in Sankisa. However, it was impossible to meditate with the temple guards constantly interrupting.

The next day, I spent all day on trains from Pakna to Farrukabad and then from Farrukabad to Lucknow. Lucknow resembled Saigon, with an incredible density of cars. I got on two wrong buses and ended up being dropped on a dangerous curb. I was forced to hail down an all-night bus to Gorakphur, and then took a bus from Gorakphur to Kushinagar.

8-7-15       Outside Gate to the Ruins of Nalanda, Nalanda, India

I meditated in Kushinagar beside monks chanting as I continue to search for direction and purpose. I am seated at the gates of Nalanda, surrounded by ruins and uniformed men. A police officer with a cane at the ready hovers over me as I scribble in my notebook. I wonder how to most efficiently spread the message of a united human race. The rain only serves to dampen my spirit further, as I feel saturated with ignorance.

When will we embrace this globalized world and see the potential we possess when united, rather than divided? My ink aims to provide a catalyst in the direction we must head if we want any hope for a sustainable future, a beautiful mutual understanding of our universal connection as hearts beat and emotions all desire the same outcome. Let us dramatically change course and no longer need extended time to change minds.

Just now, I met Martin and Peter from the Czech Republic, who are traveling via tuk-tuk from Thailand through Myanmar and now working their way across India. They are cool cats.
